Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy
The Advanced Research in Economics and Business Strategy Journal embraces the potential of AI tools to enhance scholarly work while upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics. This policy ensures responsible and transparent AI use throughout the publication process.
For Authors
AI Cannot Be an Author
Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires human responsibility, accountability, and intellectual contribution.
Permitted Uses (with Disclosure)
AI tools can support manuscript preparation, provided there is human oversight and disclosure. Acceptable uses include:
-
Language Improvement: Enhancing readability, grammar, and spelling.
-
Literature Support: Interactive search, classification, or reference formatting (authors must verify accuracy).
-
Translation: Assisting with content translation.
Prohibited Uses
Authors must not use AI tools to:
-
Generate Core Content: Create text or code that replaces original scientific thinking or interpretation without rigorous human revision.
-
Fabricate Data/Results: Generate synthetic data to substitute missing or actual data without transparent methodology.
-
Produce Inaccurate Content: Create abstracts, supplementary materials, or any content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or biased.
Image Creation and Manipulation
-
Factual/Evidential Images: Strictly prohibited for AI generation or alteration.
-
Explanatory/Concept Images: Permitted if accurate, verified by authors, and disclosed.
-
Design Images: Permitted for draft concepts, ensuring rights are clear and disclosed.
Mandatory Disclosure
Authors must disclose any significant use of generative AI upon initial submission, typically in the Acknowledgments or Methods section. The disclosure must specify the AI tool (with version), how it was used, the location of AI-supported content, and the author's validation process.
For Peer Reviewers
-
Confidentiality is Paramount: Reviewers must not upload any part of a manuscript into public generative AI tools due to confidentiality and intellectual property concerns.
-
Limited Permitted Use: AI tools may only be used to improve the grammar, spelling, or clarity of the reviewer's own written comments, with transparent declaration.
-
No Delegation: Reviewers must not use AI to generate the review report itself or delegate any part of their peer review responsibilities.
For Editors
-
Human Judgment is Essential: All editorial decisions, including acceptance or rejection, must be made by qualified human editors. AI should not assist in content evaluation or decision-making due to risks of inaccuracy or bias.
-
Permissible Administrative Uses: AI tools can be used for non-decision-making tasks like plagiarism detection, formatting checks, and language editing of accepted manuscripts.
-
Confidentiality: Editors must not upload submitted manuscripts to public AI tools.
This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated to adapt to evolving AI technologies and best practices in academic publishing.
