The reality of civil society in Algeria and its role in achieving good governance
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the assumptions of the internal dynamism of the contemporary state is the close link between civil society and issues of democracy and good governance. The growing role of civil society as an internal actor with all its components in various social, economic, cultural, religious and other fields, is necessary in many cases to assess the role of the State in the exercise of its functions or its deviation from its performance within the framework of what is specified by law, so that the role of civil society is either complementary to the role of the state, or corrective to the latter. The establishment of strong societal institutions depends primarily on achieving a balance between them through a strong network of regulations, oversight, accountability and effective transparency control, and civil society has become one of the most important channels of participation in the management of public affairs. This is what prompts us to question the extent of its contribution to achieving the points mentioned above and the mechanisms it adopts, especially since civil society is the result of many experiences and practices.
