Tontine Products in Algeria: Reality and Hope

Abstract

The tontine industry contributes to the economic development of the country. That is why the Algerian legislator enacted an executive decree dedicating the presence of companies that market tontine products based on the provisions of Islamic Sharia aiming to consolidate cooperation and solidarity among members of society. However, the modernity of tontine companies made them face a reality full of challenges, whether in terms of the lack of knowledge of these companies’ employees about the technical and legal issues of tontine, or the lack of awareness of the value of tontine, in addition to limiting its products to some services, but these challenges can be faced by technological means to develop the tontine industry in the future.
