Governance in Maghreb universities and the challenge of international rankings

Abstract
This study aims at addressing the importance of university governance in the management of higher education institutions in the Maghreb countries, especially after the emergence of various international classifications of universities and annual rankings of the best universities in the world, and with it emerged what is known as the elite club of international universities which has become a target that Maghreb universities are trying to achieve and reach. This study examines the variables related to university governance and the standards used in each international classification, as well as the experience of the Maghreb universities.
