I. Policy Statement

Passerelle is committed to the integrity and reproducibility of the scholarly record. In the interest of research transparency, Passerelle requires a formal statement on data availability as a condition of publication.

This policy outlines the requirement for all authors to provide a Data Availability Statement (DAS) with their submitted manuscripts.

For the purpose of this policy, “data” includes all materials necessary to reproduce the article’s findings, such as datasets, analytical code, scripts, software, supplementary files, or non-textual materials (e.g., transcripts, audio/video files).

II. Requirement for Submission

All manuscripts submitted to Passerelle (including all article types) must include a Data Availability Statement (DAS).

This statement must be included as a separate section in the manuscript, preceding the References. The statement must be self-contained and provide all necessary information for readers and reviewers.

To promote long-term access and discoverability, Passerelle strongly encourages authors to deposit their data in a trusted, public repository that assigns a persistent identifier (such as a DOI). Recommended repositories include Zenodo, Figshare, OSF, or recognized institutional/disciplinary archives.

Failure to provide a Data Availability Statement will result in the manuscript being returned to the authors before peer review.

III. Data Availability Statement (DAS) Templates

Authors are required to select and adapt one of the following templates that most accurately reflects the availability of the data supporting the article's findings.

Template 1: Data Openly Available

Data Availability Statement: The data, code, and materials supporting the findings of this study are openly available in [Repository Name] at [Persistent URL/DOI].

Template 2: Data Available on Request

Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

Template 3: Data Not Available

Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are not publicly available. [Optional: A brief, formal reason may be included, e.g., "due to proprietary restrictions" or "privacy stipulations."]

Template 4: Data Availability Subject to Restrictions

Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are available, but with restrictions [e.g., "due to ethical or privacy concerns"]. A de-identified dataset may be made available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request and with formal permission from [e.g., the Institutional Ethics Board].

Template 5: Not Applicable

Data Availability Statement: This study did not generate or analyze new data.

IV. Compliance and Related Policies

The execution of this policy must be in accordance with all other Passerelle policies.

  • Ethical Standards: Any data sharing or restrictions involving human or animal subjects must be in full compliance with the journal's Ethical Standards and Privacy Statement.
  • Generative AI Policy: Datasets or code generated using AI, which are necessary to reproduce the findings, must be declared as per the Generative AI Policy and made available under the same terms as other data.
  • Copyright Policy: The provision of a Data Availability Statement and the sharing of data do not alter the author's rights or responsibilities as defined in the Copyright Policy.
  • Archiving Policy: While this policy addresses the availability of supporting data, the long-term preservation of the final published article (Version of Record) is governed by our Archiving Policy.
