I. Open Access Philosophy

Passerelle is fundamentally committed to the principle of universal and barrier-free access to scholarship. We believe that the unrestricted global dissemination of research is essential for academic progress, public enrichment, and societal innovation.

Therefore, Passerelle operates as a Diamond Open Access journal. All articles are published fully open access, available immediately and permanently to the public upon publication. There are no subscription fees for readers, and, as detailed on our Article Processing Charges (APCs) page, there are no fees or charges for authors.

II. License and Copyright

Copyright Retention: Authors who publish with Passerelle retain full and unencumbered copyright to their work.

License to Publish: Authors grant Passerelle a non-exclusive License to Publish the final, typeset article (the "Version of Record" or VoR). This allows Passerelle to identify itself as the original publisher and to manage the technical and administrative aspects of publication and dissemination.

User License: All articles published in Passerelle are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

This license grants the public the right to Share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and Adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material). These rights are granted under two explicit conditions:

Attribution (BY): Users must give appropriate credit (citing the author(s) and Passerelle as the original publisher), provide a link to the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, and indicate if changes were made. This must be done in a reasonable manner, not in any way that suggests Passerelle or the author endorses the new use.

NonCommercial (NC): The material may not be used for commercial purposes. A commercial purpose is defined as one primarily intended for commercial advantage or monetary compensation.

Permissions for Commercial Use: Any use of the material that falls outside the scope of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license (e.g., inclusion in a paid commercial product) requires explicit, written permission. All inquiries regarding commercial use or other permissions should be directed to the Passerelle editorial office. Please refer to our Contact page for the relevant details.

III. Author Self-Archiving & Repository Policy

Passerelle strongly supports author self-archiving to maximize the visibility and impact of their work. Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit their work in repositories at any stage.

First, authors may deposit the Version of Record (VoR)—the final published PDF—in institutional repositories, personal websites, and other non-commercial archives immediately upon publication.

Second, authors are free to deposit their Author's Accepted Manuscript (AAM)—the post-peer-review, pre-copyedit version—in any repository, at any time, without embargo.

In all cases of self-archiving, the original publication source (Passerelle) must be properly cited with a link to the article and its DOI.

IV. Funder Mandate Compliance

Passerelle is designed to be compliant with the open access requirements of most major funding bodies. The CC BY-NC 4.0 license and our immediate, no-embargo policy satisfy the requirements of many funders.

We recognize that some funders (e.g., those part of cOAlition S / Plan S) may require a CC BY license. Because authors retain their copyright, they have the right to apply a CC BY license to their Author's Accepted Manuscript (AAM) and deposit it in a compliant repository (such as PubMed Central or Europe PMC) to fulfill such mandates.

Authors are responsible for ensuring they comply with their specific funder's requirements. Passerelle will provide any necessary support to facilitate this.

V. Long-Term Digital Preservation

Passerelle is committed to the long-term preservation of its scholarly content. To ensure the permanent availability and integrity of all published articles, the journal’s full digital archive is preserved through the ASJP platform and the institutional repositories of the University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed, in accordance with national academic archiving standards.

VI. Metadata and Discoverability

To ensure maximum discoverability, Passerelle is in the process of implementing the assignment of permanent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for all published articles, with article metadata to be registered with Crossref upon completion of the registration process. Article metadata is exposed via OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) to facilitate indexing by academic search engines, libraries, and databases.
