Plagiarism, Similarity, and AI-Generated Content Policy
Studies in Linguistics and Language Education (SLLE) maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. All submissions must be original, properly cited, and must not violate copyright or academic integrity standards.
By submitting a manuscript to SLLE, authors acknowledge and agree that their work will be screened for similarity and originality.
As part of this process, manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism-detection software such as Turnitin, in addition to manual verification by the editorial team and peer reviewers.

✅ Similarity Check
-
All submissions are screened for similarity before peer review.
-
Acceptable similarity is limited to properly cited quotations, references, and standard methodological terms.
-
High similarity may result in:
-
Immediate rejection, or
-
Return to the author for corrective revision before evaluation.
-
-
Serious or repeated similarity violations may lead to permanent rejection and, in severe cases, notification to the author's institution.
✅ AI-Generated Content Detection
SLLE is committed to maintaining research integrity and authorship authenticity.
For this reason:
-
Turnitin’s AI-writing detection tool may be used to evaluate whether large portions of the manuscript were generated by artificial intelligence without proper attribution.
-
Text that is fully or partially generated by AI must be disclosed and clearly discussed in the methodology or acknowledgements (e.g., assistance in grammar correction, data processing, or translation).
-
Undisclosed AI-generated manuscripts or AI-fabricated data are considered ethical misconduct.
-
If AI-generated writing is detected and not transparently acknowledged:
-
The manuscript may be rejected,
-
Returned for explanation or revision,
-
Or withdrawn if discovered after acceptance.
-
SLLE supports the responsible use of language tools and AI technologies, but authors must ensure full transparency and originality of their work.
✅ Consequences
Any manuscript discovered to contain plagiarism, excessive similarity, falsified content, or undisclosed AI-generated writing may be:
-
Rejected before peer review,
-
Returned for revision,
-
Retracted after publication if serious misconduct is confirmed.
SLLE follows international standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing to protect the credibility and scholarly contribution of all published research.
