Abstract

In the quest for his identity tarnished by his detractors, Rousseau retires alone into the forest to embark on a great introspection. This article is articulated around scriptural strategies of the order of argumentative discourse. It is a critical study of the Confessions, Dialogues and Reveries of the Solitary Walker. It aims to show all the places that allow Rousseau to find himself alone, whether it is the wild space, the closed place, writing or even among people. Two questions can summarize this study: what is the fundamental dimension of this solitude? And what is its relationship to certain places?
