Professional self-esteem and its relationship to job stress A field study in HYPROC Shipping Company
Abstract: This study aims to clarify the relationship between the level of professional self-esteem and job stress of a group of "Hyproc" workers. Two tools were used to gather information on the study, the first being Cooper Smith's Self-Esteem Test with a focus on items on professional self-esteem. The second survey is the Job Stress Test (JSS) for Spilberger, which has two dimensions: Work impediments, and the loss of social support, they were confirmed a good psychometric quality in different ways.
We reached a set of conclusions that allowed us to answer the hypotheses put forward:
- High levels of self-esteem do not contribute to the reduction of job stress, and to be sure the first partial hypothesis, which confirmed:
- Lack of correlation between self-esteem and job stress dimensions.
- There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in self-esteem.
- There are statistically significant differences between males and females in job stress, and males who are most vulnerable to it.
- There are no statistically significant differences between the three groups of workers for the work experience variable at the Hyproc Shipping Company.
