The Argumentative Fallacy In Political Rhetoric (selections From The Speeches Of Muawiyah Bin Abi Soufian)
Abstract
This research deals with an important Argumentative issue which is Fallacy , since it is considered to be an efficient rhetorical strategy that the the speaker uses so as to achieve his goals and intentions .Therefore, the speaker uses some misleading and deceptive means in order to convince the adressee that he has strong proofs and arguments .Moreover , he depends on Actions , words as well as logic ,and he uses all contextual data that are possible in communication .Futhermore, it can be said that Political speeches depend on a set of inaccuracies and tricks that are usefsul in conveying what the political speaker wants to convey to the audience , whether The audience is supportive or against .For example , Muawiyah bin Abi Soufian was of one the politicals who used this strategy in order to deal with their people , when he gave some speeches where he threatened his people in order to pledge allegiance to him or his son ‘Yazid ‘ to take over’ Al- Khilafa ’ after him
