Abstract

This article attempts to explore "Manifestations of Existentialism in Fatiha Morshid's novel Only Moments". Existentialism is a theoretical philosophy that takes as its object of study the human self as well as the phenomena that affect it. The latter emerged as a result of the decline of rationalist philosophy and its inability to cope with the prevailing conditions during the Second World War. It quickly became popular in the European cultural milieu due to the emergence of existentialist literature by Sartre and other philosophers and writers. As a result of the cultural factor, existentialism became a common intellectual style in contemporary Arabic novels, which gave great importance to the human being, as we see in the novel "Only Moments", in which the existentialist vision is clearly manifested through its review of the phenomenon of temporal immediacy, in addition to its reliance on the existentialist model in character building, and its focus on the theme of freedom and death, which we will study and analyse in this research document.
