Abstract

Sport and the life of the body from the perspective of Nietzsche’s Man philosophy

The shift in philosophies perspective of the man in terms of the body's relationship with the mind - with which the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche refuted the legacy of mental philosophy - led to a reconsideration of the body. There is no doubt that this vision gives some components of the body a value in revealing the secrets of that relationship, and among the most complex of these components is the activity of sport and what it can do. In this context, the research problem is established to address the issue of sports according to Nietzsche’s philosophy. We used the descriptive and analytical approach for a philosophical reading in the activity of sport according to the perspective of Nietzsche’s philosophy, and link that to the authority and bet of the body in interpreting and overcoming what philosophers saw as pertaining to the mind. The results of the research are summarized in that Nietzsche’s philosophy rebalances that relationship for many considerations, including the consideration of sport as a physical activity related to with the concept of health and disease, refinement of thought and self.
