Abstract

Since the term "religious guides" is feminine and derived from the verb "to guide" (arshada), from which the noun "religious guidance" (irshad) is derived, the operational definition of religious guidance is an educational and guiding process aimed at elevating the misguided from a state of ignorance and confusion to a state of intellectual maturity and psychological balance. This enables them to follow the path of truth according to Islamic law, thus achieving righteousness in their worldly affairs and their ultimate destiny in the hereafter. Therefore, without a guide, guidance has no meaning, and people cannot be guided. The guide's responsibility is religiously mandated and fundamental in the process of guiding towards good, and they receive rewards for it based on explicit texts from the Quran and Sunnah.
