Abstract

We will attempt to present a general outline that, in my view, may serve as a starting point for more in-depth and specialized research and discussion. However, this outline is necessitated by the context of a constantly evolving field of research, one connected to questions of social action and practice within a group that has recently become the subject of a different kind of reflection and scrutiny. It also serves as a starting point for other methodological approaches to understanding the nature of this group and its trajectory, because mentality represents the deepest emotional structure that enables us to better understand young people and study their behavioral and practical manifestations. Hence, we must ask: How do we understand Algerian youth? From what epistemological and methodological angle do we enter their world? In what context, and within what framework, can we truly understand young people, free from superficial or contrived approaches?
