Abstract

In this research paper, we will address a two-dimensional topic that includes the problem of ethics and communication in contemporary philosophical discourse. After the world witnessed tremendous technological and scientific progress that plunged the human self into anxiety, alienation, and objectification, it has become necessary today to revive ethical discourse through the ethics of communication in general. Karl Otto Apel is considered one of the contemporary philosophers who were interested in ethics and communication in his ethical philosophy, in which he called for the necessity of restoring the excluded other and opening up to all selves by overcoming the self-centeredness that dominated the thought of modern man, where many concepts contributed to crystallizing his position, such as debate, shared responsibility, and the universality of debate.
