Abstract
This study will attempt to define palliative care and its necessity for the elderly as a natural and legitimate right guaranteed by the World Health Organization, advocated for by bioethicists, and implemented by physicians. However, with the widespread use of the term "successful and robust aging" in medical circles, it has become essential to discuss the concept of life extension. This necessitates that societies take the necessary measures to regulate the situation and improve quality of life. Dr. Muriel Glick emphasizes that extending life at the expense of its quality can deprive the elderly of their precious and morally meaningful years. She added that the focus should not be on the concept of robust aging because it would concentrate on one group of elderly people while neglecting another, raising a problem that is rejected by ethical principles: discrimination based on biological and social gender.
