Abstract
The manuscript is considered the memory of the nation, an interpretation of its present, and a vision of its future. It is also a clear indicator of the status of culture in the societies that cherish it, and evidence of cultural and scientific activity in the nation throughout successive historical periods. The M'zab Valley—like many other regions of the Islamic world—is distinguished by its rich collection of precious manuscripts. The total number of manuscripts in the M'zab Valley is estimated at more than 8,000, most of which remain confined to the vaults of private and public libraries. Recognizing the importance of caring for the intellectual heritage of the region, represented by its manuscripts, considerable efforts have been made to serve it by photographing, organizing, and cataloging it. To facilitate the work of researchers and scholars of the region's heritage and Algeria's heritage in general, with its geographical, religious, and cultural dimensions, the Sheikh Ammi Said Foundation has been among the institutions dedicated to cataloging the manuscripts of numerous libraries in the M'zab Valley. As part of its Heritage Message Project, the Foundation has cataloged more than ten libraries, containing thousands of titles across various fields of knowledge. Among the most important manuscript titles found in these libraries are those related to Ibadi thought, particularly in theology, jurisprudence, and history. These libraries are considered the sole source for some titles due to their collection of numerous unique copies. This study aims to present the efforts undertaken by this Foundation to protect and catalog manuscripts, and to unveil the contents of these catalogs, revealing the invaluable books they contain on Ibadi thought. The study will proceed as follows: - Section One: An introduction to the Sheikh Ammi Said Foundation and its efforts in serving manuscripts. A descriptive overview of the catalogs completed by the Foundation. - The second requirement: A reading of the manuscripts of Ibadi thought in the field of creed, jurisprudence and history in the institution’s indexes.
