Abstract

The city holds a significant place for humankind, as social beings endowed with intellectual capacities and practical skills that have enabled them to reflect on themselves and build organized societies. This process relies on their expansive imagination in constructing cities, around which diverse conceptions of the city have emerged throughout the history of philosophical thought. These conceptions represent models that have attempted to offer a comprehensive vision of what a human society should be, one based on coexistence, tolerance, justice, and openness to others. The city is not merely a physical structure, but also a space for coexistence, tolerance, and citizenship. Therefore, attention must be paid to human values and the ethics of communication with others in order to build a city with its fundamental pillars: the scientific, cultural, and intellectual spheres. This is what philosophy has sought to achieve throughout the ages, from antiquity to the present day, by reflecting on lived reality from a philosophical perspective. The aim is to offer a new vision of our culture based on human values, moving away from policies of exclusion and marginalization, and embracing cultural exchange and economic cooperation to build a more advanced and organized city.
