Abstract

The city is the product of a transformative process in the social structure, on the one hand, and the development of functions and technological infrastructure, on the other. It represents the culmination of the most sophisticated urban organizational model, regulating urban and social behaviors within a legal and technological framework that reflects the richness and collective creativity of society. However, the Algerian urban model is multifaceted, reverting to its original historical structure due to the influence of social divisions that constitute the urban boundary (rural/urban). This is driven by the overarching organizational necessity of integrating numerous social groups of diverse and conflicting origins into a superstructure called the city through housing projects. This integration is achieved by comparing the cultural characteristics of city dwellers with their original affiliations, without considering sub-national affiliations.
