Abstract

This article addresses the topic of justice and recognition, specifically in the philosophy of Paul Ricoeur and, more generally, in contemporary Western philosophy. It does so through the study, analysis, and interpretive approach of the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005), who serves as a prominent example of how the problem of justice and recognition has been approached in contemporary discourses dominated by the humanistic, ethical, and political character. This can be described as the humanization of the ideas of justice and recognition, thus viewing them from a normative perspective as fundamental values related to other human values. They play a fundamental role in the realization of the human self, leading to the attainment of its rationality, happiness, and the completion of its identity. This perspective has led this article to focus primarily and directly on reading, studying, analyzing, and approaching the problem of justice and its relationship to recognition in the philosophy of Paul Ricoeur, through an approach to his books, especially his book (The Just, Part 1, Part 2) and his book (The Greatness of Confession, Three Studies).
