Abstract

Gadamer starts from the true historical consciousness, which takes into account the historicity of the human being as a historical being finite in time. He launched his criticism against historical studies that threw heritage into the traps of positivist research for the sake of the objective rigor that the scientific method instills. The main problem that Gadamer tried to grasp and devoted his considerable effort to is historical objectivity, according to which the historian stands at a distance from the historical event, trying to grasp and control it, like the control that the natural scientist imposes on the natural phenomenon.
