Abstract
A quick examination of Gadamer's (H.G. Gadamer) hermeneutical perspective, starting from his seminal work entitled "Truth and Method," immediately leads us to the following observation: Before expanding his investigation into the fundamental problem of hermeneutics by returning to the concept of "application" and its resulting essential definitions of the nature of the relationship between theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as his extensive discussion of practical wisdom or the Aristotelian principle of "phronesis," Gadamer begins by analyzing art as, first and foremost, a possibility of opening up to truth. Within this very discussion, the concept of "play" occupies a central place, through which Gadamer undertakes a fundamental redefinition of the artwork.
