Abstract

Undoubtedly, our identity and ways of perceiving reality are conditioned by our cultural frame of reference, which influences our self-perception, how we interact with others, and our engagement with the world. Consequently, the media exerts a significant influence on us, impacting our thinking and behavior. This is because it is not merely an economic and technological process, but also signifies increased interaction between peoples and interconnectedness between cultures. It has thus moved from the realm of mere communication to one of active and vital use in contemporary political life, as embodied in the concept of "propaganda," which America adopted to serve its interests and achieve its imperial ambitions. This led the American philosopher Noam Chomsky to criticize media discourse, through which the future of humanity is manipulated within technology, certainly more so than during the Enlightenment era. He attempted to establish an ethic of democratic media, given that ethical applications in the field of media have had a profound impact on social life within the technological sphere of humankind.
