Abstract

In contemporary human reality, we find numerous philosophical, ethical, and religious dilemmas that constitute the greatest challenges in medical ethics. Among these is the issue of euthanasia, or merciful dying, which has imposed itself as a concept and necessitated in-depth discussion. This debate coincides with efforts to strengthen patients' rights vis-à-vis medical institutions and the overall treatment they receive. Cases of euthanasia are currently experiencing a significant increase and escalation in countries worldwide, becoming a phenomenon closely linked to social entities that have, in turn, shaped the modern individual within political and legislative frameworks, economic orientations, sociological perspectives, and philosophical and ethical visions aligned with the rise of individual liberation and moral laxity. This has fueled the emergence and recurrence of the euthanasia phenomenon, leading to contentious clashes between it and scientific, spiritual, and especially ethical and value-based positions.
