Abstract

This study aims to shed light on the issue of gender equality, specifically the issue of women, and how it has been viewed throughout the history of contemporary Arab thought in general, and with regard to the thinker Abdelmajid Charfi in particular. The modern era has witnessed the spread of new values ​​such as equality, freedom, and tolerance, which have transcended and penetrated the traditional system. Equality has become a modern value linked to awareness and to movements to abolish feudalism and slavery, aiming to achieve universality. Within this universality, the issue of equality for women has become central to modern thought. As a result, women in the modern era have come to work, govern, and vote, after their role had been limited to procreation and caring for the home. Thanks to this endeavor, or trend, women have become equal to men in rights and duties.
