Abstract

Knowledge Transformations in IR: An Integrated Approach to Security Studies

This paper seeks to discuss the problem of knowledge integration in the field of security studies, and tries to clarify the limits of the traditional perception that restricted the concept of security to its military and strategic dimension. This study also aims to understand the knowledge backgrounds of the Interdisciplinary approaches that expanded the meanings of security. The study adopts a pragmatic methodology and believes that the complexity of security phenomena requires integration between disciplines with an appropriate degree of epistemological and methodological awareness in order to overcome the reductionist view of traditional perceptions of security.
