Abstract

The concept of work and its socio-cultural significance in Algerian society (Reading in the concept of craft work)


Society’s view of craft work differs in its various segments, but this difference is not often due to the nature of the work performed, but rather is determined in turn by a number of other overlapping factors related to the concept of craft work, its importance and methods of dividing and distributing it among the various groups and segments that make up the society ,in addition to Many factors such as those also led to the variation in its designations from one country to another.


In this paper, we will try to trace the origin of the term craftsmanship and the development of its concept with the succession of historical stages and the different human societies, And we found that the meaning of the term craftsmanship has changed a lot with the development of human societies, After it was mostly associated with the lower groups in society, it became in later periods that expresses the identity of nations and is also seen as a factor of development
