Urbanisation Et Lien Social Hai Dhaïa à Oran
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article investigates the dynamics of urbanization and the transformations of social ties in Oran, focusing on the case study of the Hai Dhaïa neighborhood (formerly Petit Lac). Drawing on the concept of Homo urbanus and the global expansion of urban lifestyles, the author highlights the Algerian historical context, shaped by colonial spatial policies, rural displacement, and forced acculturation.
Through qualitative and field-based sociological research (interviews and observations), the paper analyzes the transition from an informal slum (bidonville) to a redeveloped urban environment. The study explores how rehousing policies, urban clearance, and spatial fragmentation reshape neighborhood sociability, community solidarity, and local identity. Ultimately, the article reveals the tensions between rapid urban modernization and the weakening of traditional social cohesion in contemporary Oran.
