Abstract

The reality of women throughout history, and their image, has been marked by contempt, marginalization, humiliation, and degradation. This has forced them to live in perpetual subservience to a charismatic authority they encounter from birth—the patriarchal authority. For long periods, women have been imprisoned by a demeaning view that has always considered them mere bodies whose sole purpose is to satisfy men's desires, bodies associated only with sex. This view of women has also linked them to numerous concepts such as taboo, sex, and shame in societies that denied women any rights, ignoring their feminine reality and their lost identity, which they have long sought throughout history. Despite this, women have played and continue to play a vital role in society, occupying a sensitive position in the social hierarchy of any society as the cornerstone of the family. This is because they are entrusted with the most sublime function in existence: procreation. Furthermore, they are the first school that raises, nurtures, and instills in children the values of their society and culture; they are responsible for the process of socialization. Women have become aware of their active role in society and have begun to struggle to change this perception and prove themselves and their existence. They have made their voices heard in international forums through their speeches to demonstrate their role as social actors. With global openness and the endorsement of the principles of globalization, feminist movements have emerged calling for women's rights and demanding their equality with men. But the question remains: have these movements, through their feminist discourses, been able to embody the female reality and establish the woman's identity within the framework of their principles?
