Abstract

In the knowledge society, identity does not exclude the other, but rather makes the other a necessary condition for the individual's movement, practices, and activities. It must be open to the other, and every affirmation of identity is an affirmation of otherness. Therefore, every exclusion of otherness is a closure of identity. With this new definition, identity moves away from the past and affirms difference and otherness, because it is not a retreat into the self or an exclusion of the other. There is no single identity, but rather multiple identities. The aim of critiquing one side is to move the individual away from their own narcissism and focus on what is specific to their essence, that is, to be a human being of potential and ultimate end. In this way, we have given the concepts of identity and difference their specific functions in the knowledge society. To achieve this goal and embody it in reality, critical culture is necessary as an entry point. Critical culture is what enables any people to live their identity without isolation, introversion, or self-absorption. It is what enables them to be open to others for fear of being consumed. It is what provides calm and peace in relations between civilizations and provides a kind of cultural exchange where only humanity prevails.
