Abstract
To speak of "Western philosophy" would be, for some, a tautology, since philosophy always already speaks Greek (cf. Heidegger). In doing so, one chooses a heritage, undoubtedly at the expense of others. For example, the Hebrew heritage is silenced, even though it continues to operate behind the scenes. This silence thus rhymes with another, that which invites us to invalidate an epithet that would thereby be unnecessary. We should speak simply of philosophy, and this in continuity with a philosophical practice that has always sought the universal.
