Abstract

The problem statement is the third stage of sociological research, following the exploration stage. It is considered the most important stage, as it involves establishing a theoretical framework and developing an intellectual discourse based on the research findings. This reflects the researcher's strength, intelligence, and the quality of the research. The process of formulating this problem statement depends on several methods, the most important of which is the researcher's reliance on the sociological imagination method developed by the American empiricist C. Wright Mills. This method represents a very advanced level of sociological analysis of the duality of society and the individual. It is the ideal way to understand the life of the individual on the one hand, and the development of society on the other, as neither can be understood without the other. This relationship is always present in objective sociological analysis, and this method allows for creative understanding of social behavior. Therefore, we pose the following questions: What is this method? How do we develop it? And what is its role in formulating the problem statement?
