Abstract
The Ash'ari heritage in the Islamic West has not yet received its due share of research, study, and investigation. This is because the Ash'ari school's contribution in the Islamic West was significant in enriching the study of creed and theology in our beloved homeland, Algeria, in particular, and in the Islamic West in general. Hence, working on and introducing manuscripts of Ash'ari creed in the Islamic West is a duty for researchers in the field of Islamic and philosophical studies. The manuscript "Al-Durra al-Wusta fi Sharh Mushkil al-Muwatta" by Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-Ilbiri is one of the most important Ash'ari manuscript texts. What increases the value of the manuscript is that it is one of the earliest works of the Ash'aris of the Islamic West, as its author lived during the second half of the fifth century AH and the first half of the sixth century AH. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce al-Ilbiri and his scholarly life, study his book "Al-Durra al-Wusta", and refer to its manuscript copies, the author's sources and resources, and the methodology he followed in his book.
