Abstract

Doubt and confusion arise when you delve into a vast, complex, and highly sensitive subject, one that is inherently self-contained. This is precisely what happens when you discuss Islamic heritage and the ideas and manuscripts it has left behind. Those who climb the mountains of this heritage are astonished by all the tragedies, whether theatrical or real. The need to study this heritage has never been more pressing than it is now, because a mind that accepts ready-made, absolute truths without critique and deconstruction is a rigid and ossified mind. While the Arab mind fails to offer a fresh perspective on the problems of this heritage, scholars of Western methodologies for studying Islamic heritage are emerging once again.
