Abstract

The concept of the library has undergone significant evolution throughout history, accompanied by intellectual shifts that have ultimately led to its prestigious position in our time. In the past, its simplest meaning was simply a repository of books, but with the development of human knowledge, its concept evolved and its importance increased until it came to represent, in its general sense, the memory of nations. Consequently, its role has expanded and become more complex. It is the only place that satisfies the thirst of the eager reader to fulfill their intellectual needs, and it serves as a national treasure and a tourist attraction. It reflects the identity and culture of its people and individuals. The public or regional library is a microcosm of the national library, needed by all societies, and it plays a vital role in the successful educational process, being considered "a fruit of cultural maturity." This is because it supports culture and encourages its dissemination among individuals through book fairs and the organization of seminars and lectures on topics of national interest.
