Abstract
With the advancement of knowledge in biology, new topics and issues arise, perhaps the most prominent of which at present is the relationship between science and values and standards in general, and the relationship between biological knowledge and human dignity in particular, in light of new concepts resulting from medical advancements such as organ transplantation, euthanasia, gene editing, and artificial insemination. This has generated complex problems for philosophy, compelling those engaged in it to consider practical issues and move beyond the confines of theory and abstraction. This opens up a discussion about how we can benefit from the biological revolution, gene engineering, and its applications without abandoning our fundamental human nature.
