Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores the relationship between philosophy and music through a philosophical reading of the Algerian national anthem "Qassaman", drawing on Al-Farabi's philosophy of music. It highlights the universal character of music as a language that transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries, emphasizing rhythm as the foundation of harmony and social cohesion. The paper examines Al-Farabi's distinction between theoretical and practical music, stressing the importance of learning and experience in developing musical perception and fulfilling music's civic purpose. It further analyzes Qassaman as a model in which poetic language and musical rhythm interact to shape a collective consciousness grounded in freedom, loyalty, and national belonging. The study concludes that music is not merely an aesthetic practice but also a philosophical and educational instrument that contributes to the construction of national identity, strengthens social trust and cohesion, and nurtures citizenship by linking individuals to their historical memory and national symbols
