Fifth Generation Warfare And Digital Protection Mechanisms: An Approach To Baudrillard's Proposal
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines the manifestations of digital consciousness on social media platforms within the context of fifth-generation warfare (5GW), a non-traditional cognitive war targeting human consciousness through algorithms and artificial intelligence. It aims to highlight the role of digital influencers and digital consciousness as tools for user empowerment and opinion formation in cyberspace. Employing a critical analytical approach and qualitative discourse analysis, the study explores dimensions of digital influence, including space-time disruption, user autonomy, and the adoption of a “contradictory logic.” The study concludes by proposing a philosophical and sociological foundation linking fifth-generation warfare to Jean Baudrillard’s paradigm of hyperreality. It demonstrates that contemporary conflicts transcend the falsification of reality to achieve the creation of a parallel symbolic reality that disconnects the masses from their lived experience, making control of the production of meaning and symbols the primary factor for victory.
