Abstract
The 21st century is considered the century of life sciences and biology par excellence, given the technological and biomedical advancements in these fields. This development, which directly impacts living organisms, and humans in particular, has created significant philosophical and scientific dilemmas. This has prompted scientists and philosophers to address the ethical implications of these biological and technoscientific developments, as they intersect with fundamental human principles and are linked to concepts that are far from simple or easily altered. These concepts are inextricably linked to humanity, and changing them without compromising human dignity is impossible. The technology of euthanasia directly touches upon the concepts of life and death, which are intrinsically linked to human dignity. This research paper will attempt to answer the following question: Is euthanasia a medical and ethical obligation, or is it simply assisted suicide?
