The journal "Silsilat Al-Anwar" is a semi-annual scientific publication issued by the Doctoral School in Humanities and Social Sciences (EDSSH). It works on diverse topics or a single theme determined in advance by the Scientific Committee.

Far from being a mere imitation of the concept that may come to the mind of the honorable reader—which often follows the movement that the world witnessed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries—this journal is concerned with topics related to the practical applications of scientific and rational practices.

For this reason, the approaches we adopt through this journal aim to open the path toward scientific and academic issues related to university practice, provided that we retain from the philosophy of the "Enlightenment" the necessity of constantly defending reason, as Immanuel Kant stated: "Have courage to use your own reason! That is the motto of Enlightenment." Thus, we hope that unifying scientific efforts within the university framework will remain the sole motto truly expressing the spirit of coexistence and harmony, reflecting the image of the Algerian university.

The texts collected here, within this first issue, represent an intersecting reflection on society, alongside an approach based on phenomenological interpretation, with contributions written in Arabic and German. The major current questions—secularization, secularism, the public sphere, the religious phenomenon, media, communication, etc.—are topics that refer to the phenomenological argument to respond to the needs of society. This aligns with the approach followed by Habermas and Taylor in their perspectives; because concepts such as epoché (suspension), intersubjectivity, the Other, the bond, and intentionality in the vocabulary of Husserl, Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty cannot be understood except in their relation to society.

The journal "Silsilat Al-Anwar" represents an opening toward an interdisciplinary world and scientific partnership. We hope that the contributions of colleagues from the University of Oran, as well as other national and international universities, will effectively contribute to the continuity of this new publication.
