The journal "Silsilat Al-Anwar" comes as a semi-annual scientific periodical that complements the trajectory of "Revue de Consignation" (Majallat Al-Tadwin), published by the Doctoral School in Humanities and Social Sciences (EDSSH). It is not merely a venue for publishing research, but rather an intellectual horizon that engages with diverse issues or focuses on a specific thematic axis pre-determined by the Scientific Committee.
Far from being a mere formal imitation or a mechanical extension of the historical Enlightenment movement of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this series focuses on addressing issues directly related to scientific practice and rational applications. From this perspective, our approaches are grounded in a vision aimed at illuminating the epistemological and academic issues associated with university practice, armed with the philosophical essence of the concept of "Enlightenment"—namely, the continuous defense of the sovereignty of reason. As Immanuel Kant stated: "…Have courage to use your own reason! That is the motto of enlightenment" (Answering the Question: What is Enlightenment?, first paragraph). Thus, we aspire for the synergy and cross-fertilization of scientific efforts within the university campus to remain the supreme motto embodying the spirit of solidarity, harmony, and coexistence reflected by the Algerian university.
The texts compiled in this second issue present a critical reflection and an intellectual intersection on societal issues, alongside an adherence to a methodology based on phenomenological interpretation, both in the studies written in Arabic and in the text composed in German by Nadia Bonfika. Major contemporary issues—such as secularization, secularism, the public sphere, the religious phenomenon, media, and communication—remain topics that call for the phenomenological argument to respond to the requirements and aspirations of society. This is the same methodological path pursued by both Habermas and Taylor; for core concepts in the lexicon of Husserl, Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty—such as suspension (Épochè), intersubjectivity (Intersubjectivité), the Other, the bond, and intentionality—cannot be comprehended or operationalized except through their relational structure with society.
The journal "Silsilat Al-Anwar" constitutes a pioneering opening toward transdisciplinary horizons (interdisciplinary knowledge) and cross-border scientific partnerships. We hope that the valuable contributions of our colleagues from the University of Oran, as well as from various national and international universities, will actively contribute to consolidating the continuity and development of this academic project.
