Abstract
ABSTRACT: Our study focuses on the subversion of the traditional notion of the character through their worldview, which is omnipresent in the novel "Le village de l'allemand" by Boualem Sansal. In this regard, we have delved into the socio-historical aspect of the character, highlighting how spatio-temporal clues shape the novel while the writing strategies manifest their factuality. By referencing real toponymies that form the novel's structure, the author effectively situates the narrative within the interdependence of realistic fiction. Indeed, deliberately throughout the story, the author inserts a temporality that evokes or even provokes a (con)fusion of fiction and reality, and this subversion is evident both thematically and scripturally. As a result of this reflection, we have concluded that this interplay between history and memory manifests a conflicted story intimately intertwined.
