La géométrie de l’origine The Geometry of the Origin

Abstract
ABSTRACT: This article, which reverses the perspective adopted by Derrida in his introduction to ‘La géométrie de l’origine’ (The Geometry of the Origin) by Husserl, offers a phenomenological reading of several literary works (from Raymond Queneau to Maurice Blanchot via Maurice Scève), with a view to renew the idea that common sense has of the origin. He first demonstrates that the origin, if it can be conceived, never presents itself to thought except in the form of a point, initial and located in the past. In doing so, and because such a geometric donation of the original idea destines the thought to regress ever further upstream towards the updating of an original point, the "point of the origin" is reversed into an observation. of a "point of origin", of a radical absence of origin. So that, finally, the origin appears less as a point towards which thought has the task of regressing, than as a horizon for thought which can only find it and build it ahead of it.
