Abstract
ABSTRACT: The kitsch projects itself as an aesthetic in the novels of Marcel Proust. Moreover, it institutes invasion and excess as principles for overthrowing the traditional norm. From Swann’s Way to Time Regained, the Baroque taste revitalises his proustian writing, thus, the possibility for the modern novel to take root in the past and promote a deconstruction based on the heteroclite language of worldly culture. This language highlights problems with composition that leave the reader with their own impressions. In short, kitsch is an element of subversion insofar as the novel is made prisoner of aesthetic overload. The accumulation of forms and kitsch objects opens the way to subversion, transgression, and rupture in the novels of Marcel Proust.
