Public Generative AI Policy
Public Generative AI (GenAI) Policy
Transparency, Ethics, and Responsibility in Research
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the use of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies (such as ChatGPT, OpenAI, etc.) is transparent, ethical, and responsible in the creation, review, and publication of research at the Journal of Humanities and Social Studies (JHSS). We aim to foster advancement in academic research while preserving the integrity and credibility of the scholarly publishing process.
2. Use of GenAI in Manuscript Preparation
Authors may utilize GenAI tools to assist with stages such as:
- Relevant Resources: Identifying key themes or suggesting potential scholarly sources.
- Language Enhancement: Grammar correction, sentence structure improvement, or style consistency.
- Idea Generation: Brainstorming and exploring research models or hypotheses.
Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must disclose any AI-generated content (text, data analysis, or visuals) under JHSS disclosure guidelines.
3. Ethical Considerations & Responsible Use
- Transparency: Explicit disclosure of AI tools used is mandatory.
- Data Privacy: Compliance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) is required for any AI-processed data.
- Originality: AI must enhance, not replace, the author’s original intellectual contribution. AI cannot be listed as an "Author".
4. Prohibited Uses of GenAI
Generative AI tools must NOT be used for:
- Fabricating data, results, or citations.
- Producing false or misleading research conclusions.
- Violating copyright or ethical research standards.
Violations may lead to manuscript rejection, retraction, or sanctions.
5. Disclosure Statement Template
Authors are required to include a statement in their manuscript. Example:
Effective Date: March 12, 2026 (Updated periodically to align with global AI ethics standards).
