Abstract

The principal equality of opportunities in nutrition is an important issue in health, where this study analyzes patterns and inequalities in non- stunting opportunities in children under five years of age in Algeria. Based on the latest MICS4 2012 survey, the Human Opportunity Index (Hoi) and the difference Index (D-Index), and Shapley's analysis were calculated to estimate the relative contribution of extraneous conditions. The study found that children under 5 years of age in Algeria suffer from unequal opportunities, which is due to a combination of factors (the level of mother's education, the area of residence, the wealth index, the programming region.)

Key words: early childhood; health; nutrition; human opportunity index; stunting.
