Identity and difference in Paul Ricoeur's philosophy

Abstract

The Second World War was the result of a certain national identity representing perceptions that made it collide with other identities, and the devastation this caused to the world, something that pushed the Western mind to reconsider the concept of identity for this Paul Ricoeur is based on a philosophical critique of the self as inherited by European philosophy from Descartes establishes a new dynamic and open identity on the basis of difference based on his narrative theory.
Where the self becomes with the narrative, living existential possibilities through the assumptions of the imagination and make different and contradictory definitions but in the end, it returns to itself.
