The effect of the re-education program on the psychosocial compatibility of the descending delinquent girl at the re-education center

Abstract

The aim of this study is to shed light on the impact of a rehabilitation program on the psychosocial adaptation of juvenile delinquent females. The sample of the study consisted of 60 females institutionalized in the specialized center of rehabilitation for females in Bir-khadem, Algiers. The sample was divided into two groups: The first group (30 females) has spent more than 3 months in the institution (the old sample), whereas the second group (30 females) was newly admitted to the institution, from one day to less than a month (the new sample). The data about psychosocial adaptation was gathered by means of (Ataya Hana, 1986) scale. The descriptive approach and causal comparative study were also used. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences in the psychosocial adaptation between the old group and the0 new group. It concluded that the rehabilitation program is actually beneficial in consolidating the psychosocial adaptation abilities of juvenile delinquents' females.
