The Role of the University in Raising Awareness to Combat Drug Abuse A Study from the Perspective of Adrar University Students

Abstract

 This study aimed to reveal the real role of the university as an important educational institution in society in combating the phenomenon of drug abuse and addiction, as well as its role in preventing it, especially among young people who receive their education in this institution. The descriptive approach was used. The study sample consisted of (180) male and female students from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Adrar University, who were selected randomly. The study concluded that the university plays a formative role through the specializations and standards provided on the dangers of drug abuse from the students' point of view. It also has an awareness-raising role by organizing forums, whether international or national, on raising awareness of the dangers of drugs directed at students
