Les limites de la traduction automatique de la métaphore dans le discours politique d’Emmanuel Macron (Français / Arabe) The Limits of Automatic Translation of Metaphor in Emmanuel Macron's Political Discourse (French / Arabic)
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT: Metaphor is a figure of speech that involves diverting the literal meaning of a word. This meaning varies across cultures, making it crucial for translators dealing with political discourse to consider this condition for coherence and accuracy in translation. The translator must accurately convey the content and connotations of the metaphor when translating it into another language. However, this process encounters challenges in terms of equivalence, as automatic translation software struggles to capture the connotations and decipher a metaphorical phrase due to the agrammaticality and inconsistency of translated sentences in Arabic. Therefore, before seeking the exact equivalent of a metaphor from a source language to a target language, it is essential to improve the literal translation of expressions.
